Charitable support for Ex-player

Last Saturday, despite the very challenging weather, the club hosted the Charity Match organised by ex-player Richard Jones. A very large crowd turned up to support him, his partner Michaela, family and many friends, who ran the whole day’s activities, which was designed to raise funds for Wales Air Ambulance and Friends of Morriston Hospital, both of whom provided so much support at the time of and since his horrific road accident three years ago that saw him lose a leg. Prior to the main match between Pembroke RFC and Richard’s guest MISFITS squad at 2pm, the Pembroke Panthers gave an exhibition of their skills in a non-contact session. The whole day proved a massive success, with the men’s teams putting on a very competitive and entertaining display in front of a very appreciative crowd. Richard and his family were delighted to confirm that all of the fundraising activities from the day had raised just over £6k for his chosen charities. After the game a packed clubhouse witnessed an excellent pre-World Cup victory over England; no doubt everyone would like to see a repeat next weekend and this new young squad gain confidence prior to travelling to take on Fiji in their first tournament match.

The First XV have confirmed a number of pre-season fixtures, August 12 Furnace away (there maybe seats on the team coach, anyone interested should contact the team manager), August 19 Tumble at home and then they play Llangwm home on Wednesday August 23, KO 7pm in the first round of the Pembs KO Cup. The first League fixture this season is Llanybydder away on September 2nd, a week later they entertain H’West.

The club welcomes any new players to all sections of the club and anyone interested should come along to the men’s Tuesday and Thursday evening training sessions that start at 7pm, or contact the club for details of other sessions for the Panthers, Youth and Junior age groups.

The Junior section (ages U7-U16) will be holding their usual Registration Day for all age groups on Sunday August 13 between hours of 10am to 12 midday. A further Registration event will be held on Friday September 1st, 6-7pm for all those unable to attend in August.

The Friday evening social “Touch Tens” has proved a massive success and will continue throughout August. The Youth section recently held a very successful BBQ evening at Cresswell Quay; they are due to host another on Friday August 17, starting at 5.30pm, when they are hoping for lots of support.

The annual PCC v PRFC men’s and women’s cricket 100s will hopefully now take place on either the Sunday or Monday of the August Bank Holiday.
