Everyone at the club is saddened by the new of the sudden passing of Pembroke Rugby and Cricket club legend and stalwart Johnny “JR” Jones, early morning on Saturday November 18, after a long period of illness.

JR played for many years for both the rugby and cricket clubs with great success and he became a well-respected opponent and a close friend to many through his intellect, fun loving character, wit, keen sense of humour and willingness to advise and support younger players starting out on their careers.

JR played many seasons with the rugby club and held many key roles over decades, including First XV selector, social treasurer and Trustee. Johnny’s commitment to the game in West Wales was well documented and it saw him elected as WRU District H Representative, which he fulfilled with pride, great success and impeccably for many years, becoming a highly respected figure both in the District and at the WRU.

The thoughts of everyone associated with the club are with his children (Alan and Ann) and their families and close friends as they mourn and celebrate a life well lived.
