EARLY JULY SUMMER NEWS

After accepting the WRU West Wales League trophy the Panthers held a hugely enjoyable Masquerade Ball at the clubhouse a week ago to celebrate their outstanding achievement. Everyone entered into the spirit of the theme, with many of the players and some of the club’s management committee turning out in some dramatic costumes.

Part of the evening was set aside for the presentation of their annual squad awards, with the following being given out; Forward of the Year was JODIE LEWIS for her “thoroughly deserved award”, Back of the Year was MEG COLE, again for a terrific season’s performances, Coaches Player of the Year was CHLOE JONES for her hard work, commitment and excellent performances throughout the season, Players Player of the Year (voted for by all of the squad) was jointly awarded to BETHAN GRIFFITHS and CHLOE JONES in recognition of the respect gained all season and finally the Club Woman of the Year was SIAN REES reward for her untiring hard work behind the scenes and for always going the extra yard. The whole evening went really well and everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable time.

A number of the Panthers then trotted off to complete their personal running challenges over the Pembs Long Course weekend of events; the pics below show those who successfully gained their medals having completed their runs. Well done all.

Four of the club’s senior volunteers (in pic below) played at the annual June Molson Coors, Trefloyne Golf Tournament; they played very well in very warm conditions but sadly did not feature in the prize winners circle. However, they did enjoy the excellent hospitality on offer.

Every summer for a few years now the club has hosted the Friday social rugby sessions, which anyone of any ability is very welcome to attend (see this year’s social media advert below). These sessions have been very popular, with large numbers of current players enjoying the fun alongside those who do not play regularly, but love coming along for exercise, the fun atmosphere and the post-match refreshments.

The First XV, Youth and Panthers have organised a number of pre-season friendlies in August ( more info on social media); the First XV have drawn the Pembroke Dock Quins at home on September 5 in round one of the Pembs KO Cup and then the teams meet in the league at Bierspool on September 12. The junior section will be having their annual Registration Day at the clubhouse in August so watch out for further information on social media.

On August 8 there will be a massive fundraising event on the club’s main field, THE PARTY on the FIELD will feature lots of stalls selling all kinds of merchandise, food stalls, live music, a massive Raffle, children’s games, BBQ and lots more. The proceeds from the whole event will be donated to SARCOMA UK.
